The most popular church for tourists would undoubtedly be the Se Cathedral, which was built in 1619. One of the largest churches in Asia, this church was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Muslim rulers in Goa. It took 80 years to build this church, a fact that is reflected in its beauty and its 14 intricately designed altars even today.

The architectural style of the Bom Jesus Basilica can be best described as baroque with its extravagantly decorated walls. This Church carves a special niche for itself among the people of Goa because it contains the mortal remains of one of the patron saints of Goa, St. Francis Xavier, preserved inside a silver casket that is put on display every 10 years.

3. Church of St. Catejan

Pristine white and standing tall with all its glory is the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Built in 1541, this is one of the oldest churches in Goa. Located at the center of Panaji, the capital city of Goa, this church is beautifully maintained and is visited by hundreds of devout Catholic tourists every day.

The Lady Rosary Church does not compete with the churches mentioned above in terms of opulence and grandeur, for it is quite modest as compared to the rest. The reason you will want to visit this church is for the spectacular view from the hill. So this attraction should not be missed.
